Priya is a PhD student in the Bone and Brain Axis group at Perron Institute and UWA medical school. She aims to develop a Nerve Guidance Conduit (NGC) to repair Peripheral nerve injuries (PNIs). Her project is focused on developing a NGC with electroconductivity to support electrical stimulation used to accelerate natural regeneration of nerves, and topographical features to align the regenerating nerve fibers at the site of injury. The project combines the concepts of material science, 3D-bioprinting, neuroscience, nanotechnology, and physiology to devise a scaffold that can significantly restore motor-sensory functions in PNI patients.
