The Perron Institute sub-specialty neurological clinics provide diagnosis, management, and treatment for patients with complex, long term, neurological and neuromuscular conditions. Suitably referred patients are managed in collaboration with their GP and/or referring practitioner.
Medical speciality clinics for the following neurological and neuromuscular conditions are conducted at the Perron Institute
- Parkinson’s disease and other Movement disorders including Essential Tremor and dystonia
- Multiple sclerosis and other neuroimmunological conditions
- Inflammatory muscle diseases including Inclusion Body Myositis and polymyositis as well as a variety of unusual and rare muscle and nerve diseases
- Complex post Stroke
- Refractory epilepsy
- Epilepsy in Pregnancy
- Motor Neurone Disease
- Botulinium toxin injection service (movement disorders/spasticity clinic)
The Consultant Neurologists in the clinic service are renowned for their research in special interest areas. These linkages ensure many patients have access to research projects and clinical studies.
Patients may be referred to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital services for ancillary diagnostic procedures including MRI, laboratory tests and review and assessment by other specialities as required.
The clinical service refers patients for allied health interventions into Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and/or local community services. The Perron Institute does not have an allied health treatment service.
The Perron Institute Clinics are a bulk-billing service.
