Jack Price is a researcher within the Genetic Epidemiology Group at the Perron Institute, investigating genetic and metabolic factors associated with neurodegenerative disease.

His research focuses particularly on Parkinson’s disease and the lipid pathways that may influence disease biology and treatment response. His Master’s research at Murdoch University used targeted lipidomics to explore altered lipid pathways in Parkinson’s disease and levodopa-induced dyskinesia. This work contributed to a first-author publication demonstrating class-specific lipid remodelling and altered fatty acid composition in Parkinson’s disease.

Jack combines biospecimen processing, DNA and RNA sequencing preparation, clinical research coordination, database management and statistical analysis. He has also contributed to research identifying blood-based RNA biomarker signatures in motor neurone disease.

Through participant recruitment, biobanking and collaboration with consumer representatives, Jack helps connect molecular discovery with well-characterised clinical cohorts. His work supports the development of biomarkers that may improve understanding of disease mechanisms, progression and treatment response.
