Help Shape Better Mental Health Research Through Lived Experience

The Perron Institute is inviting people with lived experience of a mental health condition(s), as well as parents, carers and family members of people affected by a mental health condition(s), to help inform our research in an ongoing capacity.

This is an opportunity to share your experience and help make mental health research more relevant, meaningful and useful for the people it aims to support.

How can you help?

We are looking for people interested in an ongoing opportunity to:

  • Help improve how research is communicated by reviewing recruitment materials, interview questions and survey language.
  • Help make research more relevant by providing feedback on research ideas, findings and challenges throughout projects.
  • Help researchers understand your perspective by sharing your experiences and insights in a supportive group environment.

What’s involved?

Meetings are expected to take place quarterly and will include a combination of in-person and online meetings.

Between meetings, you may be invited to provide feedback via email, review research materials or attend occasional ad hoc meetings.

Contribution is flexible, and there is no expectation to participate in every activity.

No previous research experience is needed. We are looking for people who are willing to share their lived experience, contribute to discussions, and provide feedback on research activities.

Who can join?

We welcome expressions of interest from:

  • Young people and adults, aged 14 years and over, who have experienced a mental health condition(s) at any stage of their lives.
  • Parents, carers, partners, siblings, and family members of someone who has experienced a mental health condition(s).

Honorariums are available for eligible participants for involvement in activities, in line with WAHTN guidelines.
