The Motor Neurone Diseases (MND) Clinics at the Perron Institute provide multidisciplinary care referring out to allied health support from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) speech pathology, dietitian, and physiotherapy departments. The clinics also work closely with the SCGH Gastroenterology Department and the Respiratory and Sleep Disorders Clinics.
The MND Clinics are staffed by Dr Dev Nathani and provide reviews to anticipate and solve any problems that occur as a result of the progressive neurological disorder. Through the clinic, there is a heavy focus on ensuring patient support particularly through community service referrals including CAEP (Community Aids and Equipment Program), local Occupational Therapy (OT) services and with the Silver Chain Hospice Palliative Care when appropriate. The clinic provides a thorough care management plan to ensure, patients, carers and GPs are kept informed. Clinic patients are also offered opportunities to participate in MND research projects.
