WANRI becomes a Telethon beneficiary

This year the WA Neuroscience Research Institute (WANRI) were thrilled to become a beneficiary this year along with 40 other charities including Muscular Dystrophy and Cystic Fibrosis WA to receive $25.8 million raised by Western Australians last year.

WANRI Director Professor Steve Wilton’s and long time colleague Professor Sue Fletcher’s project for childhood muscle wasting Duchenne muscular dystrophy involves ‘genetic patches’ targeting gene defects.

Telethon Chairman Kerry Stokes presented an emotional speech and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Foreign Minister Julie Bishop were in the audience along with WANRI’s medical director Dr David Blacker and CEO Steve Arnott.
