Torsten Ketelsen, the Perron Institute Board member and Chair of the Fundraising Committee, was recently awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on the 3rd October – The Day of German Unity – at a reception held in Perth’s Government House ballroom. Ambassador Anna Prinz (pictured) paid her first official visit to Western Australia and awarded the Federal Cross of Merit to Mr Ketelsen, Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany in Perth.

The Order of Merit is the only federal decoration of Germany. It is also the only honour that may be awarded in all fields of endeavour and is the highest tribute the Federal Republic of Germany can pay to individuals for services to the nation. The Order of Merit is awarded for achievements in the political, economic, social or intellectual realm and for all kinds of outstanding services to the nation in the field of social, charitable or philanthropic work.
