Perth man with locked-in syndrome regains movement

“Imagine lying in a hospital bed, paralysed. Bereft of any movement or sensation other than being able to blink and hear.

Locked in, as the name of the post-stroke syndrome so perfectly describes it.

It was the soul-destroying predicament Pete Coghlan was cast into as he lay, unable to move or communicate but fully cognisant of his surrounds, listening to family members and medics speculate on what at very best was going to be a bleak future.”
