National Stroke Week
This year the Stroke Foundation are asking you to Think F.A.S.T and act FAST this National Stroke Week amd join the FAST Response Team.
It will take place from Monday 4 to Sunday 10 September 2017.
Thousands of Stroke Week Activities will take place in communities across the country including information stalls, health checks and fundraising for the Stroke Foundation.
This year the Stroke Foundation is aiming to ensure every Australian household includes someone who knows the signs of stroke and to call 000. They also ask that you share the F.A.S.T. signs of stroke with your friends, family and colleagues – the life you save could be your own.
From the Stroke Foundation website, here’s how you can be F.A.S.T.:
Just by knowing the signs of stroke makes you part of the F.A.S.T. Response Team:
- Face – Check their face. Has their mouth drooped?
- Arms – Can they lift both arms?
- Speech – Is their speech slurred? Do they understand you?
- Time – Time is critical. If you see any of these symptoms Act FAST and call 000
Time is critical in treating stroke. Paramedics, nurses and doctors can only help if you join the FAST Response Team and dial 000 at the first sign of stroke.
Stroke is always a medical emergency.
Will you join the F.A.S.T. Response Team and fight stroke with us this September?
