National Science Week Launch special neuroscience and music presentation
On 10th August Board Director and Chair of the Research Advisory Committee Emeritus Professor Alan Harvey led a music and neuroscience performance with the Perth Symphony Orchestra for WA’s National Science Week Launch.
Organised by SciTech and held at the Harry Perkins Institute, it was opened by the Science Minister Hon Dave Kelly MLA. Professor Harvey entertainingly showed what happens to the brain when listening to music and involved everyone by singing all together at the end of a stimulating presentation.
Recently, Professor Harvey’s book entitled “Music, Evolution, and the Harmony of Souls” was published by Oxford University Press. Robyn Williams on the ABC’s ‘The Science Show’ interviewed Professor about it.
