Muscular Dystrophy WA celebrate their 50th Anniversary with a series of events on 13th April 2017.

Founded in 1967 by Perron Institute Founding Director Emeritus Professor Byron Kakulas AO in conjunction with a small group of parents with the Rotary Club of West Perth.

In the early 1990s, Muscular Dystrophy WA provided the original seed funding as well as ongoing funding, that has enabled researchers Professor Steve Wilton and Professor Sue Fletcher and to develop a drug which has heralded a new frontier in the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

Today, Muscular Dystrophy WA’s aim is to provide practical help to improve the quality of life of people living with muscular dystrophy and to empower those living with muscular dystrophy to live full lives.
