A medical doctor and molecular biologist by training, Chalermchai Mitrpant is currently Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital at Mahidol University in Bangkok. Chalermchai commenced his research career in Western Australia completing a PhD under the supervision of Professor Steve Wilton. Chalermchai maintains strong research interest on pre-mRNA splicing in neuromuscular conditions, and antisense oligonucleotide-mediated splice switching in different disease models. Chalermchai is one of the founding members of the Institute of Personalised Genomics and Gene Therapy at Siriraj Hospital and has taken an active role in facilitating closer links between the Perron Institute and Siriraj Hospital.
